blackening thru electroplating

we are doing blackening on the c55 steel sheet and also doing same process on a investment casting of same metal on a lot basis.casting we took from same lot and a sheetmetal component we take from one large sheet. always we found that 20-30 % component either casting or sheetmetal component instead of being blackening allover it is somewhere rediish or some thing like this type of color.

may anybody have the solution for the problem. is it a defect of material? i m not sure since rest o the qty we found ok

Most likely contamination/failure to clean prior to processing.

The pattern of the discoloration can be an important clue.

You might consider black chrome. It's a system that deposits some the chrome oxide in the chrome plate and polishes up to a beautiful black finish.
