Torque Calculation

07/29/2008 12:25 AM

Dear Friends

I would like to calculate the Required torque (Kg-mtr/N-mtr) to drive the 2 Rollers(Top and Bottom) for 20mm thk X 2500mm width of MS plate with 450N/mm2 Yield strength. Roller Speed is 6 RPM. This application is for 4-Roll Hydraulic Plate Roll Machine. I will be thankful for your response.

Please join some engineering school. Do not ask others to work for you.

Why so much arrogance? If I had known how to do it I surely would have helped him/her. By the way I am user sisira.

Hello!

It is not arrogance. If you see many threads, they are not well studied before putting up te threads. This point is raised by many subscibers many times. Even in this case the question also is not well framed to make others to understand and explaining what efforts he / she has already done.

By the way, if you are regular subscriber, why you replied as guest?

"It is not arrogance" - damn right it is not. Is is just plain ignorance. If you don't want to answer or cannot answer(which is probably the case) then just don't bother responding.

I cannot assist with this answer so sorry about that.

I'm not an expert, but I don't think you gave enough information for others to help you. What is the beginning thickness and finished thickness and finished shape. Sorry for stupid questions. I hate to be so simple is to ask if the roll manufacturer advised you how much power you require. If they rate the roll by power, torque calculation is quite simple given the power requirement. Google "Metric Torque Calculation" if you know the power. Sorry again for simple stupid suggestion ! Forgive me . . . . my mother did not take her vitamins when she was pregnant !!!!!!!

The torque can be calculated :

ForceX radius =T

Force- N

radius- Met

Force can be caluclated by finding the centroid of the system & tootal weight of the system.

The point of action of the force can be conisdered as -the centre & the radius of the roller is conisdered as a radius.

the input power can be taken as = p= 2X3.14XNXT/60 in watt.
