Nessie corpse may have been found

09/16/2005 3:17 PM

A new robot submarine team has located and removed flesh from a large corpse in the depths of Loch Ness. They have retrieved samples and are sending them to both US and UK test labs for analysis. Many ardent believers are claiming that it must be a fraud because the beast is still alive, but many cryptozoologists are hoping for the best. They say that if there is a corpse there is good chance there are other creatures.

Update

From Boing Boing: Loren Coleman says, "The news from Loch Ness was premature and incorrectly reported by the UK media. The material recovered may be heralded as a new discovery, but not in the realm of a zoological discovery; it appears to be an eukaryotical, thallophytical, basidiomycotical, or botanical one."
Oh well. Still might be interesting.

More Than One

If the Loch Ness monster does exist, it's quite possible that there's more than one. The discovery of remains and a belief in Nessie's continued existence are not mutually exclusive.
