Depending on the version of AutoCAD you have, it is possible, but it is not very desirable. What kind of object are you attempting to model? And, for what purposes?

I am trying to convert drawings of Sheet Metal Parts into 3D Model, so can you guide the best software which can be freely downloaded from the net suitable for such conversion for files save in pdf, jpeg.

Guest,

I've inquired several times about your needs and have not received a direct answer. Your allusion to .pdf and .jpeg leads me to believe that you are trying to reverse engineer the work of others. That, as well as downloading "free" copies of software, is unethical.

much better to draw it in Autodesk Inventor (3D) then output that to 2D Engineering Drawings. Check out the Autodesk Inventor Tutorials on Youtube :-)

being a bit familiar with alot of these modeling software i am a bit bias to autocad when it comes on to simple drafting and modeling...where autocad users tend to find it difficult to make the jump from Acad to inventor....acad allows easier modeling with less constraints however it has its limitations like all simple flat shots can be used to provide 2D drawings. Nevertheless for more advabce modeling where lots of editing is required i strongly recommend you leave your Acad habbits n start messing around with inventor or maya

odzdgr8:- Autocad does not convert 2D drawings to 3D drawings, however it contains a modeling section for 3D modeling. if you want to draw & convert from 2D to 3D n vice versa try inventor or solid works....these do great jobs at that plus a whole lot more.
