Retrofit Packing/Coalescence

08/02/2008 7:48 AM

I would like to know what COALESCENCE or COALESCEED PACKING is and where it is used? I found these terms under the head RETROFIT PACKNG and would like to know the details as regards to OIL & GAS. If it is packing for pumps how it is installed and what is the cost factor?

Thank you

it is a packing placed in pressure vessels to force the liquid droplets in a vapour phase to join together and become big enough to allow gravity separation of the liquids from the vapours.

typical oil and gas is where there is oil droplets in the gas that need to be removed before entering compressor, treaters, or other systems.
