Hello mirzaibrahim:

I've only had a chance to browse a literature in a link that I will post. I've never seen the unit you're referring to here in the United States, although there's a lot I haven't seen. The system seems pretty straightforward and appears to be basically an outdoor condensing unit with variable cooling capacity, supplying refrigerant the individual fan coil units in a building. Many systems I have worked with are capable of doing the same thing, that is varying their cooling capacity with compressor unloader's, and multiple compressors. Many of these systems incorporate a large receiver to store excess refrigerant.

Besides a veritable capacity VRV seem to have some energy recovery features available, and the ability to heat and cool at the same time so I'm sure they're somewhat more complex than the standard multiple evaporater units.

Hopefully this is the unit you're referring to, possibly somebody familiar with this specific unit will post later, hopefully this may be of some help.

I think VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume) and VRF (Variable Refrigerent Flow) are the same thing (and Daikin may even have copyrighted the VRV term )

Anyways,

Here is a pretty decent article

I think you may be right about the copyright. The only thing unusual I saw when I browsed the literature is the number of coils it's designed to handle.
