Estonia and the Internet

05/12/2005 6:00 PM

Today, lawmakers in Estonia authorized Internet voting for local elections as the first step toward a nationwide system. Last year, the Pentagon cited security concerns in scrapping an effort to let military personnel vote on-line in November's elections. Seems to me that we could do a better job of keeping up with Estonians. What do others think about the possibility of developing a truly secure system?

More secure

The problem is people want a %100 hacker/tamper proof system. As engineers we know that is nearly impossible. All we should be concerned with is if the system is more accurate, less prone to mistakes and harder to tamper with than the current system.
