Red hot turbocharger.

08/17/2008 8:43 AM

Supposing that everything is well designed, two problems occur to me capable of making turbo to go red hot:

1-Exhaust system restriction, causing backpressure into the turbo. The very long and small diameter exhaust piping would cause the same effect.

2-It is a very common cause of turbo overheating the excess debt of fuel to the injectors or, causing the same effect, one or more injectors dripping fuel into the cylinder head (worn out injectors).Look for others causes of excess fuel debt.

turbos are strange. I ignore them.

there is alot of specifics. up-pipe, down pipe, the turbine spinning, the size of the casing holding said turbine, and at what speed of flow and how much of what size pipe, and how many cylinders are feeding said design of exhaust side turbine....and where is it going? at what nominal temperature...

and then go and change the throttle to be dynamical. all insanity. It is never correct. Slow it down to less feeding it should stop the red...
