Dielectric Coating

08/22/2008 6:41 PM

I'm looking for a dielectric coating approx .001" thick or less with uniform coverage for use on Allegheny Ludlum - Electric Alloy AL 4750 (http://www.alleghenyludlum.com/ludlum/Documents/al4750.pdf) Dielectric strength of ~500VAC @ 60 Hz, ~60secs.

I am open to any and all suggestions. Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

How about the dielectric coating they sell at auto supply stores for use with spark plugs. It is used to stop the plug wires from bonding to the plugs with such high voltage going thru them. Comes in a small tube easy to apply. The thinkness of the product is about the same as suntan lotion wet.

Union Carbide has a division that does conformal coatings on automotive parts. I cannot remember all of the details but it is a vapor deposition system and I believe it is called paralyene. It is made by breaking down a base material in a high temperaturre furnace. Originally, this company was located in Indianapolis Indiana and my have been sold off. Check the web for conformal coatings.

Thank you for all of the suggestions. I am located in San Diego, CA. A conformal coat may be the solution. We have previously tried power coating the parts but the build-up is too great and the application was not consistent.

Thanks again for the suggestions, please keep them coming.

I am in need of a coil of AL4750 thickness .046 width .385. Does anyone know where I might find something I can possibly slit to size?
