low-voltage connections

08/24/2008 8:52 AM

Can anyone produce a diagram showing the connections among thermostats/zone

valves/circulators when installing an electric furnace(15kW)?

The 24Vac output is on the electric furnace.

Can anyone produce a diagram showing the connections among thermostats/zone

valves/circulators when installing an electric furnace(15kW)?

The 24Vac output is on the electric furnace

Additional information:the zone valves have four wires (two for the valve and two for an end-switch to operate the circulator relay; thermostats are digital, with two wires.

Thanks for any assistance...

I'd like to see the replies myself, from experienced HVAC guys ... tho' I suspect they're going to ask some additional information, such as what brand&model t'stats and zone controllers you are using.

Google provides all kinds of schematics and interesting stuff, including:

You're likely to see a BUNCH of "tangential" replies, if you DON'T get a little more specific with your layout-info...

Best Regards ~

I can help but I need more data.

What is your electric furnace heating?

What are your zone valves operating?

What type of circulators are you starting?

How many zones are involved?

What digital thermostat are you using?

This is a solar-assisted, hydronic in-floor heating system; electric furnace is heating

a glycol/water solution heating five zones , each with its own zone valve(Honeywell v8043g).

The one(1) circulator on the floor system is a standard Grundfos 120Vac 3-speed.

The five digital thermostats are t.a.c. model T201 w/battery.

Sorry for keeping you waiting.

How are you planing to intergrated the heating for the zones?

Do you have controls for the solar system? If so what are they?

The zone sequence is very standard but the solar backed up with electric is not.

Are you looking for a totally intergrated control package or just the electric and the zones?

just the electric and the zones; the connections on the control end of the furnace are as follows:

D1-O

D2-O D1 and D2 are jumpered together

com-O

24vac-O

TH-O

TH-O

S1-O S1 and S2 are for an outdoor sensor(not used)

S2-O

I hope this helps.

Thanks

Gator;

Do you have a make & model for the electric furnace?

Is there any control of the solar system?

What you have given me is OK but without being sure you might as well just try hooking some wires up to see what may happen,

This is one control system - I hope this helps you see why I ask so many questions.

Furnace is a Hydra15-E2401M-C (three 5000 watt elements), not much bigger than a breadbox...

The solar merely pre-heats the fluid, via a heat exchanger, as it returns to the furnace from the floor. It`s working fine, and can be ignored for the purposes of my query.

Also , Philroth, thank you for the diagram. Regrettably, it is not clearly readable in your post. Do you have a link to which I might see a larger or clearer view?

Thanks for your interest.

It has become clear to me that we need an additional transformer to power 4 of the 5 zone valves; problem back on solveable track...

Cheers ,

Gator
