3D scanning/photography

08/27/2008 12:00 PM

I'm looking for a method of 'scanning' various parts to develop '3D photographs'.

My intent is to then assemble these virtual parts on a PC using whatever software is available in order to train newly recruited assembly technicians. Any leads with regards to hardware and software solutions would be appreciated.

This website has free software called David-Lasercanner I don't know how well it works or if it would suit your purpose. If you are looking for something cheap to start with its worth a shot. Its something I plan to play with when I have the time.
