usb2.0 to rs232 converter

hi everyone,

I am prsan currently working on a project usb2.0 to serial converter.As per i am working on this project for my skills i have no enough resources.At first i am looking for a microcontroller which should be cheap in price and when design will conform i'll connect it on a bread board for writing firmware programming.

Please help me in finding the ic and provide me the necessary links regarding this.

Many microcontrollers have both RS232 and USB interfaces, for example the Microchip PIC series. You should be able to purchase a development kit for these quite cheaply, with everything made up and the compiler included.
