Download Realterm - it is much easier to use. Whatever is on the serial port will show in the window.

Are you connecting through the serial port? You kind of have to unless you get a USB converter.

Are you sure com1 is available, if it shows a choice of com1 and com3, try com3.

Someone may have changed the bit-rate on the switch. If true, you'll have to change the bit-rate on Hyperterm until characters start to show.

Also, isn't there something about hyperterm where you have to save the profile, and then call it and then it starts?

Hope this helps.

Hi,

There are 2 reasons why you are unable to connect to hyper terminal.

1. Serail Cable which you have used might not be ok. To check the same, connect the serial cable to your PC. Ensure the com port while selecting through hyper terminal. Then short 2 PIN and 3PIN (using jumper. Then type anything on the terminal should reflect on the screen. If not then there should be some problem with the Cable.

2. Check the Alcatel 6024 switch manual for the Serial communication and ensure same setting are selected from the hyper terminal setting.

I hope this will resolve the issue.
