In the US The FCC and the FAA forbid the use of cell phones on any airbourn aircraft. Thatis, it is against the law.

The only exception would be an emergency.

private planes and helicopters make their own rules. scheduled planes do not allow cell phones to force you to use their costlt in flight phone service.

There is no evidence that cell phones casue problems with planes, just with their profits and there is a large movement to get it legalized.

most antennas dont really propogate upwards the range is aprox 10 km depending mainly on bts and power
