Best valves for milk lines?

09/21/2008 4:10 AM

3/4" pipe lines with 24V pwr supply - I need basic 2WNC solenoid valve to process milk without the inevitable build of bacteria inside the valve - any suggestions would be welcomed.

Do a patent search. There is a category just for this type of back washable valve.

Calife sells valves that will work well, clean up during standard CIP and are cheaper than other valves.

Send me directly your spec's and I will send you a part number and source.

I would look at GEA Tuchenhagen. I am assuming you need a 2 port valve and an actuator with a solenoid valve. I have worked with APV, Cherry Burrell, Sudmo, Scandi-Brew / Alfa Laval, etc. etc. The Alfa Laval "Think Tops" are way to finicky and will drive your controls people nuts. The APV valves I just find not robust enough and the control heads break easily. Cherry Burrell and Sudmo have there own set of issues. Also, if you want modules, panels or matrixes pre-fabbed, as well as some pro-bono engineering, Tuchenhagen, I find, is the most desirable. Now, chances are you will find that Tuch valves are on the higher end price wise, but when it comes to low acid applications, I do not like to fool around.

No, I am not affiliated in any way. It is just that my Tuchenhagen experiences have far outweigh any other valve manufacturer. And I have installed my share of valves. Check out the Stericom and Vesta line of valves.

Check the DeLaval Company - they make all sorts of dairy equipment including separators which require valves like you describe. Here's a link:
