Fluidized Sand Baths

09/26/2008 7:23 PM

Hello CR4ers,

Does anyone out there use a fluidized sand bath? I am looking for vendors for the aluminum oxide (aluminium for you Brits and Aussies). I have 3: Techne, Omega and Cole-Parmer, but I am looking for some more alternates. I don't want anyone to do an internet search for me, just if you have some info on hand, or you use a different vendor, that would be cool. Not as cool as the Black and Tan I'll have when I get home from work, but still cool.

www.kleenblast.com they have an office in Chula Vista.Stocking looose garin aluminum oxide and a cool new recyled ceramic product called WhiteLightning.

They specialize in blast cabinets and portnble blast equipment but ypou are probably looking for mass finising media and equipment. They are partners with Abrasive Warehouse in Ontario www.abrasivewarhouse.com and Houston Texas who are also major players for Rosler Finishing systems which are a German/ American Manufaturer of the best Mass Finishing equipment in the world.www.Rosler.com

Are you looking for this product for finishing sandblasting or for a fluidized sand bed for a boiler? We use a special ceramic product in our fluidized bed boiler instead of sand. It looks like sand but is actually man made ceramic product. I can get a product name if this is what you are needing to know.

We run our fluidized sand bath @ 850-900F to remove plastic residue for our extrusion tooling. The aluminum oxide at that temperature will remove all traces of the plastic, even in small passages where sandblasting won't clean, and is nonabrasive as far as our tooling in concerned.
