1966 Honda CA160

10/04/2008 10:09 AM

I am wanting to sell my 1966 Honda CA160 Touring Bike. Where would be the best place to put it for sell to get the most attention from people who are in the market for the style of bike?

Depends on several things. Your location and if you are willing to ship, condition of the little bike, how much you want to sell it for, and how fast you want to sell it. If the bike is pristine and has anything that increases its value significantly I.E Elvis owned this bike...then it'll actually be harder to sell. Go where the money is. L.A. and Florida.

Take some very good pics of it and stick it on E-Bay. Stick it on Craigslist. Take out an add in Walnecks. There are also a couple of good auction houses that turn bikes. There are also forums out there you can stick it on...see if you get any takers. Try GSResources and see what links there are.

Here's something for ref:

Good Luck

If your area has craigslist, do that. I can't believe how well craigslist has worked for me.

Last year I sold a oddball/classic with a Walnecks add. The bike was a 1972 Rokon with side car. I got a surprising number of calls from the add but I am surprised by how much any of these advertisers/sites charge. I have a 250 Ducati and a 750 Water Buffalo I plan on selling next summer so based on Steve S.'s comment I might try a free Craigslist add first and if it doesn't work I'll move to the paid stuff.

Steve, was your luck with classic stuff on Craigslist?

As you might know I am in process of moving overseas from Houston (I am actually in Brunei right now). At any rate, I sold my 97 Ranger pickup, my Fender Blues Junior amp, my lawn mower, my riding lawn mower, and other odds and ends via Craigs list ads.

On every item I had at least three people interested enough to call within 3 hours of putting up the ad. The truck sold in 4 hours, the lawn mower and rider both sold in three hours, the Blues Junior amp sold within 8 hours, and all for about what I asked. I don't think I dropped the price on any of it by more than 10%...

I am a big believer in Craigslist.
