It is my hopes that Americans can achieve energy efficiency beyond Venezuela where President Hugo Chavez is offering to give free vehicles of electric and CNG to his people whom give him their vehicle in return. It sounds like a good idea so America should have begun that long ago, but there is a way to do this without the government making it happen and I show the way for every nation to conceive as they feel necessary.

The problem as I see it with some conversion methods is that the transmission and the electric motor needs a adapter between them with a pilot bearing in its center, this is what the electric motor mounts to and then that mounts to the manual transmission in most cases. But the material which has been mainly used is a aluminum metal which requires cutting from a 1 inch thick aluminum plate using a pattern and then drilling holes and choosing a pilot bearing for the electric motor shaft to go through then a adapter to connect the transmission shaft to the electric motor inside the transmission case after assembly. This seems easy enough but we would like to see a machine which can churn out a plastic plate of equal or better quality than aluminum and maybe to have a internal cooling tube to flow the radiator solution through so it will cool the electric motor serving a dual purpose. Dupont suggested a injection Nylon and I just don't think that would work good enough, so I was wondering about some chemistry to make it a pourable plastic instead of a injectable plastic plus what plastic would work best. Could it be a bit on a glass support side or a embedded metal alloy dust or what about some spider webbing which is stronger than steel and what Chemical Engineering Project is your cup of tea?

On the other end of this is another method to have two electric motors on the rear of the vehicle in a motor differential housing case while one turns one way and the other turns the opposite way which propels the vehicle forward. Each motor rotates propelling either in reverse or forward, having a tilt toward the center of gravity to connect to a axle. This case is also made of metal perhaps aluminum or a alloy but it also needs to be engineered of plastic material so that the weight of the vehicle will be less than if not using metal, plus the same consideration given for a colling system to employ in that rear-end case to cool both electric motors. Note that with this type of a installation you no longer need the ICE, original transmission, ECU computer, or a driveshaft. You also can dispose of the idea of having front end drive as well as the weight of four electric motors plus battery power to work all four would be to much load to bear, but a solution could lie in having electric motor wheel hubs instead of having two cases on a vehicle totaling two motors each and four all together.

The entire electric vehicle needs to be water tight and this means extra work in considering how to go about it. I think that the type plastic tubing for the electrical wiring should be of good quality plastic and have seals. However with the advent of thermoplastic we could envision a forming sheet which could vacuum itself inside the engine compartment and completely isolate it from the outside world thus making a sealable compartment being water tight. For vehicles with those humps in the middle which were for the drive shaft we could remove the hump entirely and this takes some more metal work to flatten out the underbody of the vehicle, once accomplished another form thermo sheet of plastic would vacuum the floor area making for a better seal and hiding the newly created flooring. If we played with that some we could make tubes for wiring to slide through and have it safer than just lying under the carper and padding. Another idea is to have a tubing floor which would circulate a liquid and thereby heat the entire vehicle with ports at certain points to allow additions of a radiator and fan for passengers in the back.

Many smart do it yourself type mechanics do not think much about vacuum forming of thermoplastic but it should be part of their objective. So why then do they construct battery cases and still have leaky situations when a thermoplastic case can be made in seconds and even have a lid and tie downs, plus have a tube cooling system built right into it. I also see lots of the tune-up guys trying to convenience people that a wax gun is the way to go to seal holes and make wiring connections better. I have had lots of occasions that the wax will melt or crack and eventually break apart just like a epoxy would if exposed to the weather conditions from day to day. I only found that a product known as being stronger than steel sold in automotive stores which can be ground and painted works best, esp. for repairing the molding which the accelerator cable goes through so that replacement is not necessary because the entire cable has to be replaced and there was nothing wrong with the accelerator cable itself.

Think about all that and see what you can manage to write up that would be a solution for your Chemical Engineering Project.

biophysical applications of statistical mechanics, asymmetric synthesis, oligosaccharide synthesis, novel bioreactors, development of non VOC-non aqueous rust preventives, demonstrate low cost ph neutral co2 sequestration at room temperature, and creation of non nucleic acid based self replicating autonomous molecular devices.

My buddy asks that you demonstrate the conversion of urine into gasoline, but i suspect he has had too much bioethanol to be taken seriously.

Should be a nobel waiting for you ina any one of these. except the rust preventive, which will earn you the undying gratitude of manufacturers of steel products in every climate, but especially those trying to make a living under the oppresive regimes of the europeanenvironmental precautionary principal apparatchik. and in california.
