Mass of Material In (MMI) = Mass of Material Out.(MMO)

Mass of Material In (MMI) minus Mass of Material in Finish Goods (MMFG) equals Mass of Material Lost in Process(MMLP)

MMLP equals the sum of Mass of material lost (MMLps) in each process step Plus Mass of Material Lost by Theft or Damage (MMLTD)

MMI=MMO;

MMI-MMFG= MMLP;

MMLP= MML (Process Step 1, Step 2, Step3...Step N) + MMLTD

All of this is based on your starting with an honest mass reported from your vendor to start with... If you don't weigh material in, you could be starting with a bad number!!!

We did this with every order for steel in my mill all the time... When an order Had yield loss too high or too low it and the adjacent orders were put on hold for investigation. Must not ship mixed steel- wrong grade product!

If an order came up with 110% material, something was wrong! Not all good news is good news.

Good luck with this.
