Seal for Testing Gauges

10/08/2008 1:32 PM

I have a gauge test unit that uses a compression type fitting to seal around the gauge input stem. What we currently have consists of a rubber seal ring that is compressed by a nut over a threaded portion to provide a tight seal. What we have is brass and is slightly larger than 1/2" NPT. The test pressure is usually under 10 psi. Does anyone know of a source for such a product or what its proper name might be?

Miller FLuid Power, now part of Parker, made a device called a "Tru-Seal" for Pipe Threads that was a nut with a Teflon insert. It was put un the thread and tightened against the body the thread was screwed into after the thread was installed. Its biggesrt problem was on fittings that did not have a smooth face to seal against.

Here is a link to a brochure for the Tru-Seal.
