Silicon sealants protecting historical monuments

05/19/2005 11:01 AM

Interesting article about Dow Corning sealants being used to preserve historic monuments worldwide. These include Mount Rushmore, the Statue of Liberty, and the Guggenheim; each of which is profiled in terms of sealants and protection at the end of the piece.

I wonder what kind of tests they have to conduct to ensure that new sealants don't adversely affect the monuments they are protecting. Also how much sealant needs to be used to cover the entire Statue of Liberty???
