Gasoline engine the octane rating on Natural gas is too high to run in a diesel.

Many companies offering conversion packages http://www.cngoutfitters.com

if you are in the US, becareful on converting to CNG. The EPA has been shutting down places doing conversions because they are illegal. Each conversion must be tested by the EPA to prove that the emissions meet the standards. The testing can cost $10,000, which is added to the cost of the conversion.

Failure to comply is a $50,000 fine that can be applied daily.

Next, make sure you really want to down grade to CNG. The cost per mile is more than gasoline EXCEPT in Utah, where they have a temporary law that subsidizes CNG. Thjat subsidity will be lifted and you will be stuck paying more.

Hello ozzb:
I have thought about doing a CNG conversion before, I'm curious if you have any personal experience with the conversion. I've even considered using it on a high-performance engine, the octane rating allows the use of very high compression ratios.
