the european numbering system some of the en numbers end with a letter what does this letter stand for?

In some scientific groups the letter indicates which base is being used:

B = binary

T = (base 3 or tri-state)

O = octal (base 8)

D = decimal (base 10 that nearly everyone else uses)

H = hexadecimal (base 16)

If there are other letters it is probably something entirely different.
