Resin Level Switch/Transmitter

10/13/2006 12:23 AM

Dear Engineers,

Is there anyone of you who can give me an alternative of level switch or transmitter applied in confine tank of resin in it, beside ultrasonic level sensor?

thanks&regards,

You did not mention the type or properties of the resin, so I assume it is adhesive and will buildup on conventional point level indicators.

Our solution is to mount the resin tank on a scale for level-by-weight measurement.

Thanks Delmar.

But Load Cell sensitivity and its measuring accuracy are effected by the change of temperature inside the tank. In this case, temperature is not quite stable, but vary to the volume of tank proportionally, accelerate and deccelerate. The peak temperature differential is 30 celcius degree. Is Load cell still capable? or there should be modified in tank's conctruction?

I sugest a non contact radiometric measuring system using Gamma rays.

Our company, Endress+Hauser is manufacturing such systems and we have comprehensive application experience on this field. You can contact me via e-mail

There are two areas to address for specifying loadcells in swinging temperature applications:

1.) The tank structure will expand and contract with heat. Ensure the loadcell has a floating mount, with external constrainer linkages, to prevent the tank from applying a side loading onto the loadcells.

2.) The loadcells will have to have excellent temperature compensation characteristics.

I recommend the Sartorius PR6201 with the matching mounting kits for your tank weighing application.
