Pneumatic Conveyor Conversion

10/14/2006 7:25 AM

Hello,

Is it practically viable to convert a mechanical conveyor to fully pneumatic conveyor?

Conveyor Spec :

Length : 18 metres

Slope : 30 degrees

Load : 20 -25 kgs Max

We have 10 nos of conveyor like this with each having a 3 HP motor.

if i was able to convert this,I can save the power by introducing a compressor.

One advantage over our load , all wont be working at a time.( So single compressor can be pressed to service)

with regards,

tkdleo

Hello there,

What are you trying to convert, and is the current system giving you trouble?

Do you want to convert your drive system to air? Keep in mind compressed air costs more than electricity unless you have excess existing capacity of compressed air.

With 30degree slope why not gravity ? or is it going up hill ?

More info ?

what speed [rpm's of driveshaft]?

what kind of belting?

cycles/hr,min,sec?

Budget?

Keep in mind air drive is going to be noisey & require clean, dry, well lubbed air!
