Love Controls Model 49 Proportioning Controller

11/10/2008 10:04 AM

Greetings, Y'all!

Can anyone tell me if a Love Controls Model 49 Proportioning Control uses a J or K type thermocouple? This is a lab device that holds a reaction at a set temperature. I think it takes a K but I'm not sure.

Thanks for any help.

Doesn't appear on their website - suggest you find your nearest rep & give them a call:

Yes, you may be able to tell by the color code of the extension wire, or the tc itself:

They have the manual for the controller on the website for downloading. It wil tell you what you need to know. When all else fails use a divineing rod and see what happens. One never knows and "asking for help" now seems more fun than actually finding. It starts conversations with all kinds of roads to follow.

Thanks, Everyone! Love Controls was acquired by Dwyer Instruments, which made them hard to track down. Model 49's can take either J or K, and mine appears to need J. Thank you all for your help!

Hi wcfloyd,

I have one of these and I was looking for the manual to get a pin-out of the connections on the back. I did not have any luck finding it at Dwyer's web site. Were you able to find a manual?

Thanks,

Jeff

No, I don't have a manual. I was given the unit as surplus from a friend. It broke once and I had an electronics buddy fix it. Shouldn't be too complicated to trace out. No chips or fancy stuff. Its not brain surgery!

If you have a thermocouple, J or K, and if your controller shows the temperature, put the sensor in boiling water and if the controller shows 100°C, you have the right thermocouple.
