RAM Chips

11/10/2008 11:44 AM

Hi,

I went onto crucial.com yesterday to do the scan, which proved inconclusive. I e-mailed them to say about that, and went onto ebay to but some pc2100 266 mhz ram, which are the same specs as the current ram chips(and reccomended by another post on CR4). Today though, I recieved an email saying that I should choose

184-Pin PC3200 (400MHz) DIMM or 184-Pin PC2700 (333MHz) DIMM

according to a crucial sales and support manager. Have I bought the wrong RAM, or will it work?

Please Help

Check with the RAM manufacturer for compatibility of the modules to the PCB your inserting them into, also you can go to the boards manufacturers web site for information on compatibility.

You'll need to find out CPU FSB-Front Side Bus speed. You need same or faster speed on the ram.

This may not solve the issue, some mobo's will not work with some modules, even if the module is faster than the FSB, it could be too fast, so out of tolerance.

Hello Bondy111,

Is this for a desktop or laptop computer?

Look on the Mother Board and reply with the manufacturer name and the Mother Board #, The CPU manufacturer name and the CPU #, The RAM manufacturer name and #.
