Tagging Philsophy

Dear Frnds

We got some sensors like used in FIRe and gas system

1) smoke detectors

2) flame detectors

3) maual point /Sounder

4)Comb gas detectors

5) h2s monitors

How should our tagging of instrument be as per ISA 51/Or relevant International Std

Tagging philsophy can be up to the company using it, without being similar to some industry standard.

For example, all detectors would be called _ D.

Then F for flame, S for smoke, G for gas.

So...FD is a flame detector. If there are 10 flame detectors, then they are FD-1, FD-2, FD-3.

Create a company drawing or database with the listing. Then identify where each one is located, then the model # of each, then what spare parts you need. It's all in getting the equipment running again or replaced if they break, etc.

That should give you a good start.
