Definitions of MAWP and Design Pressure

11/11/2008 8:43 AM

What are the differences between MAWP and Design Pressure?

MAWP (Design)?

MAWP (N&C)?

Design Pressure (Int)?

Design Pressure (Ext)?

Should MAWP (Maximum Allowable Working Pressure) be lower or higher than the Design Pressure?

If a vessel is designed for 200 psig at 250 F, is it ok to operate this vessel at 220 psig at 200 F? Are there any rule of thumbs?
