B&R PLC Interface

Good Morning, I have a B&R BRKA0L5-1 interface that either is not working or I am not using it correctly. When I use progsys to talk to the plc via the interface unit I allways get a PLC ERROR. Is there a way of either by passing this unit, or a way of testing it to see if it is working.
