Identifying Two-Speed Motors

I have two speed motor in our company,but motor terminal 6 no's

Approx Value

1.1440 rpm, 7.5 kw

2.750 rpm, 3 kw

How to identify 7.5 kw,& 3 kw

Hi saransat1981,

I suppose you are taking about 50 Hz, 2 pole motor (3000 rpm synchronous speed, if asynchronous, can be 2750 rpm due to slip) and 4 pole ones (1500 rpm synchronous and maybe 1440? rpm asynchronous).

Obviously the motors shouldn't have nameplates. If both types are fed at the same voltage, at full load just measure the current with a clamp-on ammeter.

You have a 4 / 8 pole motor.

The higher speed (1440 RPM) leads are normally identified with 2U, 2V and 2W

The lower speed (750 RPM) leads are normally identified with 1U, 1V and 1W.

Is theire a someting like "D / YY" indicated on the motor ?
