star and delta connection

what are the disadvantages of star and delta connection in three phase?

guest; 3 phase coil groups wound for 240 volts connected delta operate 3 phase 220/230/240 volts ac same groups connected wye operate 380/400/416 volts ac. some times large motors are connected wye, say on 240 volts to limit starting current, then after a short time, reconnected to delta for normal operation. perry

Potentially High current peaks at change over. Do your own reaserch to find out why this occours
