Re: what is the meaning of PS,5P10 class CT ?

Hi

CT must be manufactured with some margin of the accuracy and also with some margin of prtection or also said to be safety margine in which in the event of very high current during fault on the terminal of CT itself, the core of CT remains intact or not saturated,

so 5P10 means this CT will give u an accuracy of 5 % even in the case of 10 timea current than its rated current.

CTs with some higher rating are also availbale.

Best regards

Class 5P10 is already answered in the earlier thread. These are generally used in General Protection applications which involves current based protection circuits like overcurrent, reverse power etc...

Class PS is an abbreviatioin for Protection-Special Class of CT's. These are used generally for Differential Protection applications

Hope this is of use to you.

5P10 means it is a protection class of CT where accuracy limit factor is 10. PS means protection special. This core is used for REF/ Differential Protection.
