Calibrating a Level Switch

dear all

i have a level switch of E&H model FMI51 capacitive type. it is intended to be used on ammonium nitrate solution which is viscous liquid. My problem is that i tried to caliberate with water but no response was there. Is something wrong with the Switch or i am using wrong solution. please reply

hi dear,

Viscosity is not the problem fluid must be conductive,you check the directly means short the common and sensing lead and observe the level switch it working or not ? if no then problem with level switch side. try this.

Yes, it should work, and that's a good way the check for operation. My experience with these is they must be properly calibrated, to work at all. Check you manual, if you don't have one, I think E&H has the info on their website. But it's usually no big deal, hit the reset, however, the probe must not be in the solution when you do this.

The unit should work just fine in water.
