With all due respect, this is not something that can be done at home. For one thing, to carry out thin film deposition of silicon, you'll need access to nitrogen trifluoride, an extremely toxic, dangerous gas I seriously doubt you'll be able to buy without appropriate government licenses.

Hey, I'd much rather spoil his (and your) fun than to keep quiet and allow him to hurt himself and his family members with highly toxic chemicals like NF3 and cyanide.

The best is you buy modules and put them together. manufacturing of the cell itself is totally out of your limits.
