Good luck to you, tlon!

I'll bet that you are asking about what does a "division manager" do. A division manager is responsible for multiple plant operations in a division.

If you would google "division manager," you will get links to many job descriptions that may help you understand the scope and responsibilities.

I would personally expect you to set high standards for safe operations. Create a process that assures the quality of your divisions products and services. Set up a system that reports performance measureables daily, and compare them to your standard. Coach and teach. Demand that promises be kept, whether to customers, fellow employees, or suppliers. help your employees achieve Efficient performance, and cost effective management, while being a good neighbor and assuring compliance with all laws. You will need to stand up for your people when they did the wrong things for the right reasons. You will listen to facts, not opinions, and you will listen long before speaking. Keep your mind on the mission, and share your vision of success with all who will listen. visit the various locations and speak with everyone there, and here there concerns. ask to see pictures of their family, and show them pictures of yours, so that everyone knows who all is counting on your success.

Finally, I would expect you to create a culture of continuous improvement. If you can just do these things, You will be successful and respected by all, and honored by your descendants.

Fail to do any of these to your best ability, and you will just be another incompetent boss to be disrespected by all and gamed by many. Ignore safety and quality, and you may get to learn the power of the legal system.

Keep posting on forums like this and you'll continuously improve your ability to communicate. That will be an enabler of your success as well.

Congratulations on your promotion.

remember-SAFETY FIRST!

milo

Well thats good for you and hopefully your company..You gave no hint as to what compound(s) you are manufacturing other than petrochemical based which leaves it open to thousands of possibilities...Milo responded in a general paternalistic pattern and i would agree with what he said whole heartedly but i'm not sure this is what you were seeking advice on..If so fine..go out and be an engaged boss with the respect both of your peers/co-workers and product that you are compounding..If you are asking for technical advice be more explicit...

And yes have an enjoyable day as well as new year 2009...Oh and the rest of 2008...Regards,Marty W...and active contributor andreader that enjoys all that is when not tied up making money

Good for you........lover of natural. This experience brought something to my mind!

I recall that shortly after signing on under Her Majesty's employ in the Royal Australian Navy I received an extremely fast promotion........... to a Captain.......no less!

"Captain of the heads"

Cheers, enjoy your promotion.

Congratulations on your promotion; we can suggest if you want to trial some all natural 'walnut shell' in powder or grit form for a new compound. We send a kit out to those interested of the 16 most often used media/grit/powder, sieve sizes, and if there is an application you could 'trial' to subustitue our natural product in as a filler, or abrasive ... we can send you material to test with. We are 'Eco-Shell, Inc., the largest walnut shell manufacturers and packaging plant in the world. We ship globally and do many trials with companies. Walnut shell has a psi of 22,900, is non-toxic, dust free and a natural product. Feel free to contact us, @ rebecca@ecoshell.com

Discuss options with your engineers, we will help in any way we can.

Good Luck!
