Stability Chamber

12/05/2008 2:00 PM

I have a stability chamber that is acting very wierd. First the Temperature and RH was not reaching the set point. I opened the control panel and found a blown thermal fuse and 2 contactors that werent holding as strong. I changed the contactors and the thermal fuse and after turning the SC on, the temperature and RH went up to the set point. Temperature is holding but RH is not holding very well, its having a hard time and is fluctuating with 10% of the set range. I am not very familiar with these instrument. I dont know where to go after this. We changed the compressor about 3 months ago but the compressor is making loud noise as well.

Is there a small transformer in there ?

Check that . Sounds like the chamber was hit with a power spike.

What components have been changed before the trouble started happening?

Are there any signs of damage to the circuit boards, such as blackened areas or burn marks that might have been caused by an electrical discharge?

Do you have spike protection on your line power?

This happened about 3 months ago, before i was here. Some refrigeration company had come in and replaced the compressor and they had just left after that. When the SC was turned on, it wasnt working as required, shaking and making loud noises. So then last week i was told to look at it, When i started, i looked at the control panel and i realized the contactors were humming very loud and werent holding very well and one of the thermal fuses were blown. Thats all thats been done to it and we are not sure what to do next with it.
