Standards for Creepage Distance

12/11/2008 9:24 AM

I have read through the two standards APTA RP E 004 and CSA C22.3 No 8-M91.

The CSA standard descibed the creepage distance and gaps for 25KV & 50KV and the APTA standard describe these until 2KV.

I think, It exist an additional standard describe our requirements 2KV-25KV.

Can you tell me the other standard. Regards

Dear Sir,

The creepage distance is chosen depending on the environment where you use the equipment. It in terms of mm/kV. For ex. it may be 25mm/kV or 31 mm/kV.

Best Regards,

N.Suresh

Dear all,

There is quite a lot of information about creepage distances (usually upto 1kV) on the net and in related standards and books. However, it seems as if there is not any information on the minimum distances and depths of the ribs on an insulator. I will really appreciate it if you can share some information or at least point a reference to this issue for medium voltages.

Hi Guest,

I listed these sites several months ago, and do not feel inclined to do anyones work for them. No insult intended in any way OK?

These sites did not suddenly land on my screen................. I had to search and do research of different kinds to find out this detail. Keep researching as I did, and be topic specific when searching. Go to what you know or think to be sites that may have what you want. It is not always easy!.................. But, I often use part of the threads title question and get answers from that. Why can you not do this? I am assuming you are at Uni' so you should be used to doing all kinds of research right?

I wish you luck, but feel you really should do your homework and prove it by perhaps listing sites you have tried. Remember, a site may have the answer you want, but, it may well not be on the first page! Just keep looking and by dint of effort, finding out your out information with your own knowledge, is a great achievement, try it!

Apart from anything else, to be taken seriously, at least as far as I am concerned on this site, you really should join. It is a great place and the answer to your question may even be on this site, as the site has millions of links to every type of Engineering company you can possible imagine!

There is a search window on the top right side of this page, enter your search and follow the leads and I would be very surprised if you do not find what you want. But, you have to put in the hours, days, weeks, months of work first! Just as we have.

Good luck, and take care
