Material Pitting Allowances for Armor

12/18/2008 11:44 AM

I'm looking for a chart or table or some documentation that will tell the depths and or cumulative area of pitting allowed in armor plate. If you can direct me please respond. Thank you. D McCauley.

Hello Guest,

Are you talking of 'Armour' as in tanks? Or Armour as a description of a protection for pipes and similar things?

And forgive me asking, but, for something that may be designed to take bullets and stuff more substantial, 'pitting' would have been the bottom of my list of worries.

Take care, and have a wonderful holiday!..............

Please review MIL-DTL-46077G as it deals with armor plating and allowable tolerances.
