Combine air cooled and water cooled chiller

Dear all,

I have a system that is a water cooled water chiller and other air cooled water chiller which they have be combined to supply cooling for hypermarket. And they are the same capacity (300 RT each).

What is problem with my system?

We usually use chilled water for the system. How about the capacity with Kw?

I think with 300 RT accordingly cooling cap. 1055 in kW. Remember that i want to combine their together to.

Any problem to my system?

There should be no problem operating both chillers in the same system if you properly account for water flow through the system. I suggest you connect them in parallel (not series) to maximize heat transfer efficiency in each chiller. The water flow through each chiller should be at what the chiller manufacturer recommends. This may require separate pumps or a 2 speed pump. I suggest that you set one chiller to run constantly (base unit) and the other to switch on and off as needed (trimmer unit). This is a common configuration for chillers, heating units, air compressors, and many other types of process equipment. I expect that both units will be running nearly constantly but you still need to establish your temperature control setpoints a couple of degrees apart so that the units are not working against one another. Otherwise you will find your equipment running in a dynamically stable oscillating situation which is hard on the equipment and not very efficient.
