When installing a seal pot for a main steam pressure transmitter. Were should the seal pot be located in respect to the main steam line? Thank You

On top of the pipe with an isolation syphine to prevent "live" steam from hitting the transmitter.

Along side the steam line or above or below the steam line? And were should the

Hello Guest,

you seem to have a pretty good answer from the expert "Boilerguy". But here is a few other choices:

hi all!!

I would like to help me with a problem I'm having problems with a boiler level sensor (differential pressure)
when the boiler delivers less than 4000 kg / h of steam sensor readings are correct
when given a little over 4000kg / h sensor readings are an inch above and when delivery 11000 Kg / h sensor readings are about 3 inches above
reviewing the plans, I realized that the reference HP (bottom of the boiler) the sensor is connected in the wrong place next to the right place but do not think this is the real problem I think the real problem is that I did not put a " seal pot" in the reference leg LP (top of the boiler) this may be the cause of my problems?
influence too much the "seal pot?
which is exactly what happens inside the boiler?
to deliver steam to a large amount this makes the pressure at the top of the boiler to drop so that readings vary according to the flow of steam?
in a few days the boiler stopped to make the necessary changes and make sure I get it right this time
thanks for any help best regards
excuse my English I understand it ............. but my writing is disastrous

I've only seen plugs, like the hex plug below used for sealing the top port after filling the pot and impulse piping.

Although a vent valve would allow an air purge on start-up, I'd have to think about a safe way to manage it. I'm sure the style with a vent tube or barb (on the right, below) would be essential for conducting the vented air/fluid/steam safely.

Those kinds of high pressure vent valves are routinely used on DP transmitters, I can't see a down side. Might have to use a pressure rated reducer bushing.

Maybe a steamboiler guy has another opinion . . .
