2000 Chevy Express won't start when it's cold?!?!?!?

01/01/2009 9:05 PM

My 2000 Express utility van won't start when it's cold. I give it a shot of carburator cleaner and it starts and stays running. I stop to get gas and have to do it again. It will run fine while I'm driving it. What is the problem?????

Need more info. How many miles on it? Does it crank at normal speed? Carburetor or injection?

I once had a similar problem with a 78 Chevy with 150K miles on it. Turned out to be a sloppy stretched out timing chain.

try cleaning/flushing the injectors. A clogged cold-start injector can be an issue. Bad fuel can be another, try upgrading the fuel octane and go from there. Had a tune-up done? The gap in the spark plugs make a huge difference on the coil pack ignition systems because the voltage is generally regulated low to save on costs. Does it crank and not turn over or does it just click?
