EPDM 521 elastomer testing per ASTM D395

My questions are about the compression set test procedure / setup and the results.

The setup and procedure are as follows: Test plug (.380 thick X .650 OD) is placed in the test fixture and compressed to .190 (50%). The fixture is placed in an oven at 250° for 24 hours. The specimen is then removed, measured and percent set calculated per ASTM D395 requirements.

The results we have been seeing are an average set taken by the specimen to be 55% and an average reduction in shore hardness of 10 (shore).

1 - Is this 55% set typical for EPDM rubber when tested at 50% compression?

2 - Is this drop in shore hardness normal for EPDM rubber if tested under these conditions?
