MV XLPE Cables

Hi,

Can anyone help me, in finding out the programs for the maintenance of MV XLPE cables and also information on how to calculate the necessary quantities of spare cables & joints/terminations required for existing circuits.

There is no short cut method for the quantity etc of existing circuit. You have to study the circuit, wiring, termination,cable layout drawings etc and estimate the quantity.

10 to 15% of what you have is what we for most of our contractor install of new systems.

Concerned by the word spare in your question. Please be aware MV cables have a life span when they are off the reel and not energized.

Thanks a lot, as understood, there is no study or defined standard or particular formulas and method to calculate the spares required for existing MV XLPE cables and joints/terminations….as I seen from the replies it is a matter of rough estimation of 10-15% of what already installed….please correct me if I am wrong..!!
