Hi Sachin,

You have to specify exactly what help you require, otherwise how some one can help you. As for designing the transformer you must know the details of the transformer you want to design. All the parameters like VA capacity , voltage ratio, the actual physical size ( actual space available in the unit for placing the transformer ) , class of insulation etc.

you are right . but as far now what i have been told is to gather all the information abt smps transfrmer designing and the statement would be given later on .

so may be kind of some study material like any book on it or some matter like articles on considerations made during designing .

thnks

Switchmode power supplies transformer design is pretty complex but for a good introduction I would try one of Marty Brown's books "Practical switching Power Supply Design" or "Power Supply Cookbook" You can also try Lenk's book "Practical Design Of Power Supplies." Thos books will help you get started but you will need more in depth books if you want to get into the Nitty Gritty of it all.

You will first determine the Topology based on the requirements of the supply; Isolation, Input Voltage Range, Output Voltage, Output Current, Efficiency Requirements, etc...

You will find everything is a compromize...

Size vs. efficiency vs. cost vs. frequency vs. topology vs... It is very challenging the first time around but they get easier as you go.

The tolopology you select will utilize a specific transformer style. You need to select your operating frequency; size vs. frequency vs effieciency here. Lower frequencies are easier to work with but require bigger transformers, hogher frequencies become more challenging but allow for much smaller transformers and you migh take and efficiency hit. Then you will get into the actual transformer design; Core selection (type, size and material), Number of turns, Magnetizing Inductance, Leakage inductance limits, winding style, etc...

Good luck

hi everyone

got this project statement

"smps specifications topology : two transistor forward converter

frequency 96khz

input 150-400 v

output 10 A / 55 v

and the core that would b used will be ETD 59

i am waiting for the your suggestions and advice.
