You should try Wiki or Google first. You need a little knowledge before you ask people how to do your job.

Argon will be better as a shielding gas. But we can't teach you how to weld here.

Laser welding is the best way to go. Look that up, too.

I don't think you have advised correctly

Weleding is a special process, Wiki may not help much.

First get the relevant codes, then talk to specialists (we have a fully functional welding engineering department but can not send them by net nor I think they will like to be transported)

Refer to relevant ASME sections

Tig welding is a good choice, or if you have ss rods...

pure CO2 is not used as a shielding gas for SS but can be used for CS. CO2 it's used in different %, up to 20%, depending on the type of process you're using. it seems that CO2 can affect the corrosion resistance properties of SS due to C pick up in the material

have a look at this doc at pag 24 u can see a table with recommended shielding gas.

The corrosion resistant part of SS is the Cr.

Cr is very prone to form various carbides (I forget the exact compositions).

If you weld with CO2 the Cr will react with the CO2 to give carbide interspersed with oxide.

In that case, as far as the heat affected zone is concerned, you might as well be using mild steel.

This is why you need argon as your shield gas.
