Engineer Locally, Produce Locally, Consume Locally

02/05/2009 11:03 PM

Ummm:

Our respective rear ends are on the line, we have the "Global Challenge" dumped out there by the last Prez standing. Ssso it don't work to my edification of the human nature and also cash just is not getting to local labor market.

The major countries have money flowing out to who knows where, we the TAX base are getting nothing, I mean all of nothing, Rich banks and businesses are handing out bonuses on out of Tax money. Does any body else other than me have a problem with this happening, and us - we all of us having nothing to say or do about it?

Am I just blowing wind, or can earning a dollar in my local metro actually save me from going bankrupt???

I have always had a problem with the executives getting their astronomical salaries and bonuses, no matter how much money they lost, look at GM and Chrysler. What are people thinking, no way are executives worth over 400x the salaries of the common worker. It is that same common worker who makes the products the company sells. What really bothers me is the politicians who keep saying recession, they just don't get it this is a DEPRESSION by any definition. Time to stop trying to look like they are doing something for the CNN cameras and actually do something to get the economy headed back in the right direction. It has been proven by history that the best approach is infrastructure projects, time to stop the filibuster and get the bill passed and get people back to work. <rant mode off>

Hey now!

Hang on there!

Every exec answers to a board, all boards answer to stockholders; whether individuals or massive investment funds.

If they think he is worth that much I'm not willing to interfere. I'm also not against salary caps in exchange for bailout funds - but that is because he is working for ME now.

NPR asked a fella with one of these vague firms that accumulates salary data

As we descend the salary scale, how much of Wall Street are we actually affecting?

100M+ - not too many make that much

50M+ - not too unusual with the BIG houses

10M+ - you are now hitting a goodly portion of upper execs at major firms on Wall Street

I know companies that run on less revenue

"My biggest regret is the film ran too long to get the segment on the bankers into it. They were there every step of the way and they knew with certainty just how wrong it was, but they were making too much to walk away."

Alex Gibney - director
