Differential Protection in simple words is a protective system for power distribution lines and transformers . The operating current for the protective relay is derived from comparing the differential current between input and out put. In normal conditions it will be balanced and under faulty conditions will generate differential current sufficient to operate protective relays and in turn the main circuit breakers ( OCB/ VCB/ SF6 etc.) with in a pre defined set time and current chart.

It is a complicated subject to be explained in few sentence in a short space as reply to thread like this. Please read the book

by B. Ravindranath, M chandr This book provide all the details that you require on differential protection power system protection.I think this book may be available for on line reading please check.

I read it long back . I am not sure weather it is still there . The details of the book was in my old file . I have to surf and check now. I thought the needy person will check and let us know if he is interested.

Like misers I have kept the books in my personal library along with MG Say, cotton, Taylor, FKK and others

Somtimes just remove the dust from them (and the brain)

It just felt so costly then $ was as I remember Rs 8 or so.

GOD THAT BOOK BLOWS AND MOST OF THE MATERIAL IN IT IS SMOKE AND MIRRORS. TALK TO A RELAY TECH (NETA 4) THEYLL BREAK IT DOWN FOR YOU, HOMEY.
