I think 6.6kV is not medium voltage, It is HV

6.6kV is Medium Voltage. High voltage is above 25kV.

A good source for Medium Voltage soft starters is Motortronics, but they have no direct representation in India. Their MV soft starters however are brand labeled as Siemems Sikostart MV, ABB SSM Series and Elettronica Santerno ASAMV.

The local representative for Elettronica Santerno is a very good company with a lot of local support, BHARTIA INDUSTRIES LIMITED http://www.bchindia.com/. Their website does not yet show the ASAMV product, but they will know about it if you contact them.

I wasn't implying that there is a 25kV soft starter, I was saying that per IEEE standards, "High Voltage" begins at 25kV.

Nobody has yet made a 25kV solid state soft starter, 15kV is as high as anyone goes so far. I do know that at least one manufacturer (Motortronics) has designed a 25kV version for a project but it has yet to be purchased so it has not been built.

I think this is BS. I challenge you to tell me of anyone who has yet built a 25kV soft starter. Lots of people have talked about it, but nobody has done it yet. There are major technological hurdles involved in finding the right SCRs to do this reliably. If Solcon has done it, it was an experiment.

LOL, great information on Emco/Kimo. It shows me that you have no idea what MEDIUM voltage means, which makes me believe you have no idea about anything else either!

Since this has turned into a sales pitch, here is a list of all the companies that sell MV soft starters. Most of them are not these little niche companies.

Siemens, ABB, GE, Schneider, Eaton, Allen Bradley, Toshiba. Smaller companies: Motortronics, Benshaw, Solcon, Aucom. Smaller companies who sell them but they are just re-labeled versions of one of the above: Teco, Emotron, ISEL, Elletronica Santerno, SAF Canada, OEM (Texas) plus about 20 different Chinese copies of the Solcon product, some authorized, some not (you must be very careful).

All of the major manufacturers now have MV soft starters, all you have to do is ask. Why bother taking a chance on some small company that you are not sure is going to survive now that all of these companies have these products to sell? No chance that Siemens, ABB or Schneider will be out of business in 5, 10 or 20 years.

Re: Medium Voltage soft starter

Smaller companies some times offer better services, better installations, and better over all effort for success. Larger companies like Siemens, ABB, and Schneider, normally have managers in India, which change regularly, rotate, use inexperianced managers out of school, make them product managers, who very often make a mess of installations. Smaller companies specialize, offer a professional solution, and a lower price or cost. Larger companies like ABB, Siemens, and others only offer the product, primarily becuase of projects, and most have no technical knowledge or sufficient back up to solve problems when they come up. I worked with a company mentioned above for 11 years, and saw the harrasment that client went through, with junior sales engineers who had no knowledge of motor control till I started my own. A product manager of such a large multi national company, sold 2 soft starters rated at 250kw, with a 30 sec ramp time, with 4x In, for a blower with in built by pass. He sold this on price, and the blower takes 110sec ramp up time at 4x In. Outcome, 2 very burnt soft starters.

Still, you keep mentioning MV and / or HT. Your company provides neither. Waste of time.
