if i add capacitor with dg running the pf up to 0.99 PF

what happen in DG set.

I don't feel it is, it would have been had he gone to 1.00

a) You put capacitors at load end and not at generator end (you want to compensate the pf of load)

b) Reaching too near 1.00, you may land up in the LC frequency matching the system frequency under some load condition.but if the Real Load (mimic-ing R) is sufficient then i think nothing will happen to the system.

Capacitive load may only have some effect on the stability of system. The current should lag the voltage and this lagging nature is the way the energy is transferred mech to electrical, If the current starts leading, you may convert it into a motor ? Got to think on this aspect. Not sure.
